HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method is the original HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator training and carries a Gold Seal Approval, which is recognized in 45 countries. The Gold Seal Approval assures the general public that the practitioner is of the highest standing and has passed their certification review and has agreed to the Codes of Ethics and Standards as set out by the HypnoBirthing® Institute. It is the most comprehensive program available and as such is recognized as the leading program in Canada.

Birth Basics
If you don’t have formal training in childbirth, such as that received by midwives, doulas, labour & delivery nurses or physicians, you will need to compelte the Birth Basics Home Study prior to attending the training.
**If you do not have formal education in childbirth, such as that received by midwives, doulas, labour & delivery nurses or physicians, you will need to complete the Birth Basics available as a Home Study for 245 CAD$
INSTRUCTOR – About Mercedes Ruiz :
Mercedes Ruiz is a certified HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, Master Trainer, and Faculty Member of the HypnoBirthing® Institute. With a background in psychology, Gestalt therapy, and perinatal mental health, she is also a certified counsellor, hypnotherapist, birth and postpartum doula, and DBL Baby Language Educator. Since 2014, she has supported families in Latin America, Spain, and Canada through education, therapy, and doula services.
Born in the U.S., raised in Mexico, and now based in Halifax, Canada, Mercedes offers bilingual support in Spanish and English. Her passion for gentle, empowered birth experiences began with her own HypnoBirthing® journey and has led her to train with Marie Mongan herself. Outside of her work, she advocates for survivors of abuse as well as all birthing people and enjoys family life on the East Coast.
